Roman Blind Options for Every Room

From bedrooms to kitchens and living spaces, Roman blinds offer a stylish, made-to-measure solution throughout your home.
Bedroom fitted with roman blinds

Bedroom Roman Blinds

Roman blinds give bedrooms a softer, more dressed feel than a roller. Add blackout lining for full darkness or thermal lining to keep heat in during winter.

The fabric folds sit flat against the window when lowered and stack neatly when raised, no clutter, no bulk.

Living Room Roman Blinds

This is where roman blinds earn their place. The layered folds add texture and warmth that a flat roller blind can't match.

Choose a heavier fabric for a more structured fold, or a lighter linen-look for a relaxed, airy finish. For bay windows, we fit each section individually for a clean, tailored result.

Kitchen & Dining Room Roman Blinds

Roman blinds suit dining rooms better than almost any other room they add a furnished feel without curtains taking up wall space.

Patterned fabrics work well here as a design feature. Go with standard lining to keep the light soft during the day.

Textured Fabrics

Woven or linen-look fabrics that add depth and warmth without pattern. Gives the blind more weight and a more structured fold. Best in living rooms and bedrooms.

Design Detail

Moving into a New Build?

If you've just moved into a new build at Livingston, Bathgate or Winchburgh, your windows almost certainly came with a "don't drill into the frames" clause in the developer paperwork. Standard Roman fittings need brackets fixed to the frame or recess, which makes them a non-starter.

If you've just moved into a new build at Livingston, Bathgate or Winchburgh, your windows almost certainly came with a "don't drill into the frames" clause in the developer paperwork. Standard Roman fittings need brackets fixed to the frame or recess, which makes them a non-starter.

We fit Perfect Fit Roman blinds instead, clip-in frames that hold the same fabric and the same folded finish without touching the warranty.

Tailored Finish

Choosing the Right Lining

Lining changes how a roman blind performs, not just how it looks. Here's what each option actually does.

Standard Lining

Gives the fabric more body so the folds hang properly. Improves the finish and adds a small amount of light reduction.

The right choice for living rooms, dining rooms, and any room where you want soft daylight rather than darkness.

Blackout Lining

A dense, opaque layer behind the main fabric. Blocks virtually all light. The standard recommendation for bedrooms and nurseries.

Adds weight to the blind, which gives a fuller, more structured fold. Some light may still enter at the edges, if total darkness matters, we'll advise on fit options.

Thermal Lining

Does everything blackout lining does, plus adds an insulating layer that reduces heat loss through the window.

Worth considering for older homes, north-facing rooms, or any window where you feel a draught. The most expensive option but the one that pays for itself over time.

Customer Questions

Common Questions About Roman Blinds

Answers to common questions about our made-to-measure roman blinds.

Roman blinds fold into soft layers when raised, they look more like soft furnishing than a functional covering. Roller blinds retract into a neat tube and sit flatter against the window.

Roman suits rooms where you want warmth and texture. Roller suits rooms where you want something clean and minimal. We'll help you decide during the home visit.

Standard lining is fine for living rooms and dining rooms where you want soft daylight.

Blackout is the right choice for bedrooms and nurseries, it blocks virtually all light.

Thermal does everything blackout does plus adds insulation, so it's worth considering for older homes or north-facing rooms. We'll bring samples of all three.

Yes, we measure and make each blind separately for its section of the bay. This gives a clean, structured look and avoids the problems you get trying to fit a single blind across a curved track. Roman blinds are one of the best options for bays.

We'd advise against it. Most roman blind fabrics absorb steam and moisture, which leads to mould and fabric damage over time. For kitchens and bathrooms, roller blinds in a moisture-resistant fabric are the better choice.
